Total Body Lift in Mexico
Total Body Lift
A total body lift — or circumferential lower-body lift — combines several partial operations into a single complete procedure to reduce excess skin, fat and soft tissue across the entire lower trunk. The procedure addresses four zones sequentially:
Abdomen
Standard abdominoplasty with navel repositioning and optional abdominal muscle tightening (rectus diastasis repair).
Flanks & sides
Curved incisions extending to the back via undermining of the trunk skin — ensuring a continuous, harmonious contour.
Buttocks
Lifting and reshaping, with fixation to the back fascia and pelvic rim using strong sutures to prevent descent over time.
Inner / outer thighs
Optional spindle or T-shaped tightening performed in the same session when significant skin redundancy is present.
Selective liposuction is applied throughout to loosen tissue and enable continuous skin border connection between zones.
Surgery lasts 5 to 7 hours under general anesthesia. Most patients spend 2 to 3 nights in the accredited private hospital with continuous monitoring.
Who is a good candidate?
Massive-weight-loss patients (typically 30+ kg lost) at stable weight for at least 12 months, non-smokers, in good general health and psychologically ready for a major recovery. Often these are post-bariatric patients. Active smokers, patients with active medical issues or with unrealistic expectations are not candidates.
Expected results
The lower trunk has a flat, defined contour from front to back. The outer thighs are firm. The buttocks are lifted. The waist is restored. The trade-off is a circumferential scar around the lower trunk that fades over 12 to 18 months. Result is essentially final at 12 months. Permanent with stable weight.
Circumferential Approach
The total body lift is performed in two operative positions:
1. Prone position (face down)
Lower-back skin excision, outer-thigh lift, buttock lift — with deep fixation of the gluteal flap to the back fascia and pelvic rim using strong sutures to maintain the lift over time. Selective liposuction of upper back and bra-line.
2. Supine position (face up)
Abdominoplasty with navel repositioning, rectus diastasis repair when needed, and selective abdominal + flank liposuction. Curved incisions undermine the trunk skin to ensure continuous border connection. Final layered closure.
The two incisions meet on each side, creating one continuous circumferential scar low on the trunk — hidden by underwear or swimwear.
Staging Strategy
Massive-weight-loss patients often need correction of multiple body areas (arms, breasts, inner thighs, face). Argaman Plastic Surgeries Mexico uses a staged approach: Stage 1 — total body lift (highest impact). Stage 2 (3–6 months later) — arms and/or inner thighs and/or breasts. Stage 3 (if needed) — face and neck. This approach maximises safety and final result.
